Meet Linh Flores, Austin-based US Immigration Attorney & Founder of Tran Flores Law

Hi Linh, thank you for sharing your story! Please introduce yourself — who are you, your background, what service you provide?
I'm Linh Flores, an immigration attorney and the founder of Tran Flores Law, a boutique immigration firm based in Round Rock, Texas. We help individuals, families, and businesses navigate the U.S. immigration system — from family petitions and employment sponsorships to green cards, citizenship, and waivers. Our team is bilingual in English and Vietnamese, and we serve clients from all different backgrounds and cultures, nationwide. Immigration isn't just my career — it's deeply personal to me. I came to the U.S. as a refugee from Vietnam, and that experience shapes everything about how I show up for my clients.
How did you get started? What led you to this industry? Was it always the plan?
My path to immigration law wasn't a straight line. I started my legal career as a civilian attorney for the Department of Navy, then worked in private practice across other areas of law. It wasn't until I had the opportunity to work on immigration cases under a mentor that everything clicked. I knew immediately this was where I was supposed to be. Going from arriving in the U.S. as a one-year-old refugee to becoming an immigration attorney has been a full-circle experience. And starting my own firm was its own leap of faith — I moved to Texas less than a year before opening Tran Flores Law, with no local network and no name recognition. The first year and a half were hard. But slowly, the phone started ringing.
What do you love most about the work? What keeps you motivated and inspired day to day?
Hearing the relief in a client's voice when they realize they're not alone in this. So many people come to me carrying real fear — fear of the unknown, fear of the system, fear of what's at stake for their family. One of my favorite parts of this work is watching that shift happen when they understand their options and know they have a team genuinely fighting for them. I relate to my clients on a personal level. I've lived a version of their story. That connection is something I don't take for granted.
What's something people don't see or know about your industry?
How vulnerable the immigrant community is to scams. Because of language barriers and limited familiarity with the U.S. legal system, people are often taken advantage of by those posing as legal help. One of my core commitments is making sure every person who sits down with me — even just for a consultation — leaves understanding their situation and their options. The other thing people don't always realize is how much the landscape has changed. Successful immigration outcomes are genuinely harder to achieve right now. Cookie-cutter, fill-in-the-blank approaches can actually put people's futures at risk. Personalized strategy matters more than ever.
What resources, tools, or support do you wish existed?
Better public education around immigration rights and processes — in multiple languages and in formats people can actually access. The gap between what people think is possible and what's actually available to them is significant, and it costs people dearly when they don't know what they don't know. I'd also love to see more resources for attorneys doing this work to stay current in a climate where policies and enforcement priorities shift so frequently. This area of law moves fast, and keeping up is its own full-time job.
What do you want potential clients to know about you or your work?
That we take your case personally. When you trust Tran Flores Law with something this important, we treat it that way. We're a small firm, but we've achieved big wins — including in some of the most complicated cases out there. What sets us apart is that we take the time to actually know your situation, your history, and your goals before we develop a strategy. We're not just filing paperwork. We're building the strongest possible case for you and your family. And we're going to communicate with you every step of the way, because you deserve to know what's happening in your own case.
