Meet Nataliia Acerra, Brand & Portrait Photographer

Hi Nataliia, thank you for joining us today! Please introduce yourself — who you are, your background, what service you provide?

My name is Nataliia Acerra, and I am the founder and photographer behind Acerra Studio LLC, based in Round Rock and serving the greater Austin area. I specialize in brand and portrait photography for businesses, professionals, and individuals who want their images to communicate more than appearance. My work focuses on mood, identity, presence, and creating visuals that feel intentional and recognizable. My background is in education, which taught me how to observe people, communicate clearly, and help others feel at ease — skills that now shape how I guide clients through every session.

How did you get started? What led you to this industry? Was it always the plan?

Photography was not always the original plan. My professional background was in education, but I had always been drawn to visual storytelling, creativity, and the way one image can communicate something that words cannot. After moving from Ukraine to Texas, photography became both a creative language and a way to rebuild professionally. What started as a personal interest gradually became a serious business. I continued learning, developing my style, investing in professional equipment, and understanding not only photography but also branding and visual communication. That journey eventually became Acerra Studio.

What do you love most about the work? What keeps you motivated and inspired day to day?

What I love most is discovering what makes each person or business distinctive and translating that into visual form. With portrait clients, I often see the moment when someone stops worrying about the camera and begins to recognize themselves in the images. With business owners, I enjoy creating content that reflects their personality, values, and direction — not simply producing attractive photographs. I am inspired by people, light, architecture, and the stories behind businesses built with genuine purpose. Every project gives me a different visual problem to solve, so the work never feels repetitive.

What's something people don't see or know about your industry?

People usually see the final photograph, but much of the work happens before and after the camera is used. A successful session can involve understanding the client's goals, researching their audience, developing concepts, creating a mood board, choosing locations, planning outfits, and preparing lighting — all before the camera is even picked up. Afterward comes directing, selecting the strongest images, editing, color grading, and preparing the final gallery. For brand photography especially, attractive images are not enough. The content must make sense for the business, communicate the right message, and be useful across social media, websites, advertising, and other marketing channels.

What resources, tools, or support do you wish existed?

I would like to see more accessible resources that help small-business owners understand how to use professional visual content strategically. Many businesses invest in photography but aren't always sure how to turn those images into consistent social, website, and ad content, or a recognizable visual identity. Beyond that, I believe greater access to information and stronger connections between local providers, businesses, and consumers benefit everyone. That's part of what drew me to Maisaic — a platform that helps people discover trusted local professionals and understand the people behind those services, making the process of choosing a provider more personal and transparent.

What do you want potential clients to know about you or your work?

I do not approach every session with the same formula. Before photographing someone, I want to understand who they are, what they are building, what they want to communicate, and how the final content will be used. My work combines photography, visual storytelling, and thoughtful creative direction. I help clients prepare, choose ideas and locations, feel comfortable in front of the camera, and create images that remain true to them. For businesses, my goal is not simply to make a page look beautiful. It is to create a visual presence that feels consistent, recognizable, and relevant to the people they want to reach. For portrait clients, I want the photographs to preserve not only how they looked, but something real about who they are.

Your contact info and links are on your Maisaic profile, is there anything else you'd like to share with the readers?

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my work and for supporting local creative businesses. Acerra Studio is currently booking brand and portrait sessions in Round Rock, Austin, and surrounding areas. I work with business owners, professionals, creatives, and individuals who want thoughtful photography with a clear purpose and personal direction. Maisaic readers are welcome to mention Feature Friday when reaching out for a complimentary 20-minute visual planning call before booking — a chance to discuss ideas, goals, locations, and what images would be most useful for you or your business."
